Books to Read

Newest book and one of the most inspirational and helpful to me is Divine Signatures, by Gerald Lund.  He writes about how God is always concerned for us, He knows us, and is present in our lives.  Heavenly Father lets us know he is  there through distinctive "divine signatures".  Things many people may call miraculous or amazing coincidence, but nonetheless are Heavenly Father's way of letting us know He is there.  I learn something new every time I read more of it, and I definitely recommend it for anyone, especially if you're like me and kind of feel directionless at this point in your life.  We all have a direction in life, even if it's not always apparent.

Once upon a time series....
I have not read them all yet, but they are retellings of fairytales!  Not just in really old time periods, but they have some in the 19th century as well!  It isn't all the same author either, so if you don't like one you can still try the others, but I have yet to find one I don't like.  They are super quick reads too.  Maybe in a couple hours if you a had a while to just chill.  Some retell Rapunzel and another did Little Red Riding hood, and for me make me like the stories better, because of course there is a cute boy girl romance in them :) Give it a try if you're looking for something quick and easy and happy ending type of book.

I'm reading the last of the Fablehaven series right now, and at this point can still recommend it to other people even though I have not finished it yet.  I may change my mind if I don't like some of the people they kill off throughout the book (I tend to get attached), but as of this point it's a definite read!

As for the books the I last finished and am dying to get the third one in the series, Storm Glass and Sea Glass were good and the next one Spy Glass I'm hoping will be the best out of all of them.  They are along the lines of Poison Study (same author) but this girl tends to brood a little more than Yelena did in Poison Study and since it's fall and starting to rain and be cold, I like books with that type of mood.  Check it out!

The Lightning Thief Series is the next one to start.  I'm almost finished and each is as good as the previous.

But I want to really recommend The Hunger Games! So good and such a fast paced/exciting book.  My brother Jackson may even enjoy it(despite the girl being the main character). There are two books out so far.  The Hunger Games and Catching Fire.  The next installment, for which I am waiting on pins and needles comes out in August.  Oh how slowly the months pass.  But if you are looking for a good read here it is.

If you know me, you know I love books and am always looking for new ones. I love books by Tamora Pierce, Shannon Hale, and Gerald Morris and any author that has strong heroines or fantasy fun.

My latest recommendation is for The Trouble with Kings by Sherwood Smith. In my experience he writes about girls that are very naive at the beginning, but do something about what they do not know. They aren't just a damsel in distress! It's great like that. So if you have time...it's not bad :)
